鼓型齒式聯(lián)軸器是一種特別設(shè)計的先進(jìn)齒式聯(lián)軸器，其外齒制成球面，球面的中心在齒輪的軸線上，齒側(cè)的間隙比一般產(chǎn)品稍大，鼓形齒聯(lián)軸器可以傳遞較大的扭矩和允許較大的角位移，性能優(yōu)異且壽命更加長久。

靠背輪聯(lián)軸器用來將不同機構(gòu)中的主動軸和從動軸牢固地聯(lián)接起來一同旋轉(zhuǎn)，并傳遞運動和扭矩的機械部件。有時也用以聯(lián)接軸與其他零件（如齒輪、帶輪等）。

靠背輪常由兩半合成，分別用鍵或緊配合等聯(lián)接，緊固在兩軸端，再通過某種方式將兩半聯(lián)接起來。
